THE BLOGGING REVOLUTION \\ FASHION

You might not be hundred percent interested in fashion, but I’m pretty sure you know or you heard about the blogger phenomenon. Do you read fashion blogs? Do you know the name of any blogger? Have you guys ever though about where this blogger thing comes from? Let me explain you some interesting points about it!

The fashion world we know now it's not the same as it was a decade ago. You probably don't remember, neither do I because I was too busy playing with Barbie by that time, but there were a couple of unwritten rules for people who was able to attend fashion shows. And I say people "who was able" because at that time, only designers, editors, retailers and some famous people were the only ones invited to the shows. Those rules went from; Sit straight, keep your personal belongings AKA your handbag out of the camera range, maintain a serious face and don't you dare to take photos!

Obviously those rules sound idiotic nowadays, but as we started this new century the things changed. At the 2000 the first generation of fashion bloggers appeared and changed that dynamic. Designers realized that it was a great way to get more, and sometimes, free coverage of their shows, that way they started to invite Bryan Yambao, Susanna Lau and Tavi Gevinson, who were the top of the first fashion bloggers. Bryan, Susanna and Tavi knew that with the help of their digital cameras, iPhones and iPads it was a lot easier to share what was going on on the inside of the runway shows. They invented, in some way, the live-blogging; Posting photos, videos and tweeting live while they were at the shows.

Fashion can be such an interesting world and people who were following the adventures of the first bloggers wanted also to take part of it. The fashion blogger phenomenon was born then. Half of the population who was interested in fashion took the next level and created a blog and started to write posts about the new collections, their outfits, and stuff like that. Of course, some of them only did it to receive freebies and gifts from brands.. But who doesn't like a present? Duh!

One of the biggest differences between the first generation of bloggers and the following ones, is that the firsts were blogging about fashion itself, and now it has become a little more about themselves. Nowadays people like to share what they are doing, what shows they are attending to, how’s their lifestyle, what are they wearing that day or what is happening at the show. With the help of Instagram and all the new networks, it’s a whole new level because within a second you can do all that. Depending on your point of view you can think it is bad, but I definitely think it is a really good thing. You can keep yourself updated about what is going on all around the world, what are the next trends, and also get inspired by other people you don’t even know. It’s a faster way to connect with people, and share all the information that you want to be known, and all this through your phone or your computer!

I believe we are so lucky to have all this tools through technology and internet which give us unlimited resources, but I still think It's kind of crazy how every single moment or interesting thing about every catwalk, and everything in general, is posted online before even magazines can write about it!
